When inquired about the switch, our tour guide, Giuseppe (spelling?), brushed it off as not surprising and it had happened before. Is this their “bait and switch” practice to charge us a higher price? Giuseppe was friendly, helpful and informative. Patricia was an experienced driver and pleasant. The boat ride was quite nice. “The wine and port and jam tasting with Helena was outstanding. The lunch on the farm was excellent. With the boat trip we joined a big boat coming from Porto. Lots of passengers, sitting at tables but there were no loud music or any other disturbances. We found the boat trip to be just long enough to not get boring. We were just in time to catch the train from Pinhão back to Regua, the guide gave us tickets for a specific time. As far as recommendations, we think it will be better to also supply the name of the store at the dock where we are suppose to meet.…”

“Once we got underway, it was ok. Sparkling wine on arrival and continued during the river cruise. This compensated for what we felt were misleading directions that led to late arrivals and late take off. A lovely boat but passengers were split between the fore and aft, so it was difficult for the crew to give us timely information.”

“This was a wonderful tour! Our guide Daniel picked us up at our hotel and spent the entire day with us. On the way to the Douro Valley, we stopped in Alicante, a quaint little town with a beautiful cathedral and coffee shop that gave us a respite for a bit. Once in the Douro Valley, we took a lovely cruise on the river, enjoyed a local fare lunch in a local restaurant, and then drove high in the mountins to sample local wines, and enjoyed the company of the wineries' owner.”
